Sometimes you have to make your own breeze.

Watch out Riley! Here I come!

Emmaline had started to crawl and now there is no stopping her. not even a growling shih-tzu.

Emmaline and Campbell

When I was in the hospital waiting on Emmaline to arrive, my friend Kate was down the hall. She had her daughter Campbell about an hour before I had Emmaline. Now, Emmaline and Campbell are in the same class at St. James Day School and we look forward to Emmaline growing up with her buddy.

Swamp Girl

We were at the farm over July 4th weekend to celebrate P-Paw's birthday. John decided that it would be a good idea to back the truck with a trailor attached into the swamp to launch the boat and set a fish trap. While me and E hung out in the air-conditioned, bug-free truck cab, I got a picture of Aunt Shannon looking for the "best" route thru the weeds.

Then, after we determined that we were stuck in the swamp (not that I saw that coming or anything), John and Emmaline played in the swamp while we waited for the "tow truck".

Beach House with Brady

At the end of June, Emmaline and I got to go back to the beach house with my mom, my sister-in-law and my nephew. We had a great time and it was fun to watch the two cousins together.

Reid and Paul's Engagement Dinner

To celebrate a good friends engagement, a group of us hosted an engagement dinner. I'm sad to say that I only have one picture to share. I was in charge of dessert and decided that lemon squares would be delicious (we also had a chocolate dish for those chocolate lovers). I made them from scratch (squeezed the lemons and everything!) and even put their new monogram on the top in powdered sugar. As I was checking off my list of things to put in the car, I walked back into the kitchen to discover that Roxy, the humongous hungry Chesapeake, thought they were simply scrumptious.

Weekly Photos

A friend of mine took pictures of her little girl every week for the first year and put them in an album. I thought this was a great idea so I stole it - I did warn her first though. The idea is to take the photo in the same place, with the same object (we use a huge pink bear) so you can see how she's grown. The number blocks document the week. It's a lot harder to remember to do than one might think. It's getting even harder now that Emmaline is aware of what's around her and the "outtakes" are hilarious. Enjoy!

My Birthday Celebration

On Saturday after returning from the beach, we went to dinner at my favorite place, Oak. I only get to eat there for special occasions so I always request it for my birthday. It was DELICIOUS and we had a great time. We asked for the chef's table in the kitchen and if you go, I highly recommend that table. It's where all the fun happens!

Emmaline's First Trip to the Beach House

The last week in May, our little family traveled up the coast to my family's beach house. Emmaline LOVED the beach, maybe a little too much because she wanted to eat handfuls of sand. After putting up a tent, chairs, coolers, etc, we packed everything up 20 minutes later and headed to the pool. Maybe next year will be a little easier to play on the beach. Emmaline loved the pool and it was more infant-user friendly since we had a float. On Wednesday we went to dinner to celebrate my birthday for the first time (yes, that's right, I believe in multiple celebrations!)
